Change compass. Other indicators than GDP

Laure Malchair, from the non-profit organization Justice and Peace, author of the study “What if the economy told us about happiness? » answers questions from Axelle magazine published by Vie Féminine.

GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is an indicator that measures the production of wealth. Used since the 1950s, it is now used more widely to evaluate countries and their development and constitutes the reference for decisions and political orientations. However, it leaves entire sections of citizens' lives in the shadows and it does not take into account inequalities or threats to the environment. For Justice and Peace, there is an urgent need to build other indicators of wealth in a democratic manner to move towards a less unequal and more collective societal project. Axelle_Change compass
