Western Sahara, Africa's last colony

The Belgian committee to support the Sahrawi people is organizing a mission of Belgian civilian observers to the Sahrawi camps.

sahara_occidental_visuel_H150.jpg The Sahrawi people have been waiting for their independence for more than 40 years. Today, the population is separated between the Sahrawis living under Moroccan occupation in the occupied Sahara and the 160,000 Sahrawis living in refugee camps in southern Algeria, where they were able to find refuge from violent Moroccan repression. The population is entirely dependent on humanitarian aid, which is now in constant decline.

Your action makes the difference!

Through this visit and the approach to the living conditions of Sahrawi refugees, the committee wishes to raise awareness among participants of the urgency of resolving the conflict through the implementation of the self-determination referendum and remind the Sahrawi people that they are not forgotten by everyone in the desert.

What is the mission?

– Visit to Rabuni (the ministries, the presidency, the central market)
– Meeting with the Sahrawi Red Crescent, and the Oxfam-Solidarity team, (visit to the humanitarian aid dispatching)
