For several years, rumors have been circulating according to which any individual who helps an illegal alien faces a prison sentence. Is this credible?

It is obvious that there is no legal offense called “solidarity crime”.

However, this provocative concept, born in France a few years ago, suggests that solidarity with undocumented immigrants would be sanctioned by the authorities or at the very least strongly discouraged.

But what is the origin of this alleged crime, what are its contours? And how can states have gotten to this point?
