Conflict diamonds: facing the limits of the Kimberley Process

“While on paper the Kimberley Process (on conflict diamonds) is still a tripartite process, in reality it is primarily a body dominated by governments whose aim is to protect the interests of their national diamond sector, with some representatives of civil society who are sidelined" these are the words that Shamiso Mtisi, president of the Civil Society Coalition, concluded the plenary assembly of the Kimberley Process (KP) on November 22, 2019 in New Delhi.
