How can we better protect populations and workers from abuses that occur throughout companies’ value chains?
Binding legislation, requiring them to adopt a “vigilance plan” (applicable throughout their value chain) and to remedy the impact of possible violations of human rights, labor standards and environmental standards would already be a first step in the right direction.

A United Nations treaty and European regulations are currently being developed. Belgium must rise to these challenges and take the plunge, like many other European countries which are in the process of developing similar domestic legislation.

What are the chances of seeing a law on the duty of vigilance emerge in Belgium? What must be put in place to encourage the approval of such regulations? Let’s discuss it together!
