“We must admit: the environmental problems we face cannot be solved simply by a series of technological innovations and industrial deployments of alternative solutions. (…) Ultimately, we will have to go through sobriety and develop adapted technologies that are much more economical in terms of energy and resources. (…) It’s the whole idea of low tech, “low technologies”, as opposed to high tech. It is above all an approach, oriented towards the real economy of resources, neither obscurantist nor opposed to innovation or “progress”, but seeking the most appropriate technologies.”
Low-tech, towards a technically sustainable civilization. Philippe Bihouix, author of the book The Age of Low Tech and founding member of the Momentum Institute (the Anthropocene and its outcomes), will take us to discover low tech and the opportunities that result from it, on the occasion of a conference organized by Louvain Agro Alumni and Louvain Engineers, Justice & Peace and Louvain Cooperation on October 9.
A drink will be offered at the end of the conference, organized jointly by the Cercle Agro and the CI.
