» As this Friday, June 30, we celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the debates around the statues of Leopold II are more relevant than ever. Is the Congo decolonized? To answer this question, Emmanuel Tshimanga, advocacy officer at Justice & Peace was the guest at 12:30 p.m.

Before answering this question, it is important to return to the difference between the terms 'independence' and 'decolonization' which are sometimes part of everyday language, without really knowing how to differentiate them. For Emmanuel Tshimanga: “independence only takes into account political questions while decolonization is much broader and includes social, economic, psychological and even philosophical aspects. ”
