In Kivu: relative peace, a slow economy

After two decades of bloody conflicts and hundreds of thousands of deaths, Kivu, in eastern Congo, seems to have returned to peace for a year. A relative peace which has not – for the moment – made it possible to revive economic activity or energize political life. Last January, this region was the focus of anti-Kabila riots.
