60 years after the decolonization of the African continent, there is reason to question the presence and role of sub-Saharan Afro-descendants in Belgian society today.<\/p>\n
What is the evolution of the diaspora? What roles can she play? <\/strong> <\/p>\n The first immigrations to Belgium began after decolonization. Almost all of these people were post-baccalaureate students. Their number then gradually increased until today. In 2019, more than 85,000 Belgian-Congolese and Congolese reside in Belgium.<\/p>\n The presence and role of the Belgian-Congolese, while mixing with other populations present in Belgium, is becoming more and more significant and requires more in-depth analysis.<\/p>\n Today, we are simultaneously seeing the lasting settlement of Afro-descendants of Congolese origin in Belgium and the maintenance of close links with their country of origin.
